Joye V. Spears

Joye V Spears 81 passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas Day 2022 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Joye was born March 2, 1941 at home near Skedee, Oklahoma to Roy and Lena (Funkhouser) Spears.

Joye was raised in the Blackburn area and attended Blackburn Schools graduating from Blackburn High School in 1959. Joye attended Oklahoma Baptist University and obtained a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1963, she also attended Seminary at Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1965. In her career she worked at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bristow Hospital 5 years, and Fairfax Hospital 30 years 1976-2006.

She was a member of the Blackburn First Baptist Church where she served as Pianist, Sunday School Teacher, and Children's Church Teacher. Joye loved crocheting, playing the piano, and gardening.

Joye is survived by her sister, Barbara (Spears) Kerr and husband Fred, brother, Sammy Spears and wife Donna, nephews; Trenton Spears and wife Melody, Aaron Spears and wife Whitney, niece Ashley Matoshi and husband Elis, great nephew Luka Matoshi, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Lena Spears and a nephew Michael Kerr.

Services were held Thursday 2:00 P.M. December 29, 2022 in the Blackburn First Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Bob Fuller and Pastor Fred Kerr officiating, burial followed in the Blackburn Cemetery.
