Betty Shook, 98, died Friday, April 17, 2015 in Arlington, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, at 10:00AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska with graveside services immediately following at the Pawhuska City Cemetery. A rosary will be said at the Church on Friday, April 24, at 6:00PM.

Mrs. Shook was born Frona Elizabeth May on November 15, 1916 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Roy and Georgia Bessie May. She was the second of six children. Betty wed Sidney A. Shook on August 31, 1932 and they were married for 64 years. She had three children, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. She served in many various civic organizations, including the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce and the original committee to form the first Cavalcade. Mr. and Mrs. Shook moved briefly to California in 1942 to assist in the war effort. Betty and her husband, Sid, owned Shook Oldsmobile Cadillac in Pawhuska and later she opened Lucky Penny Village Womens Clothing in Farmington, NM. In her retirement years, she was active in the Bartlesville Indian Womens Club and 55-Plus Senior Center.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Bea BigElk and Nadine Pronio; brothers Ed, Mac and Victor May; son Richard "Doc" Shook; daughter, Grace Dawn BigElk, and grandchildren John Goff, Jr., and Victoria Goff. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sidney Ann and Dr. Gene Jones, and their daughter Jenifer Jones, and grandchildren Pam Murillo, Lesta Maloy, Vanessa Legere and Kathleen Shook Brooks. Several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
