Helen Louise (Guess) Rogers, 74, of Pawhuska, OK passed on to be with the Lord August 21, 2017 at her home. She was born March 23, 1943 in McAlester, OK to Pershing and Ina Mae Guess.

Helen was raised in Stilwell, OK, graduating as the Salutatorian from Stilwell High School in 1960. She attended Grace University in Omaha, NE and graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Education in 1964. She then attended Northeastern State University, earning a degree in Elementary Education. She taught a combined total of 27 years in Watts, OK, Mark Twain and Grimes Elementary in Tulsa, OK and Pawhuska Elementary.

In July of 1970, Helen married Cliff Rogers of Copan, OK. Cliff and Helen moved to Pawhuska in April of1973, when they bought and ran OTASCO for the next 11 years. During this time, they had their three children - Stacy, Philip and Brett.

Helen started teaching First Grade in Pawhuska in 1985, and stayed in that same position until she retired in 2007.

Cliff and Helen have been members of the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska since 1973. Helen taught First Grade Sunday School for many years.

Helen was the love of Cliff's life for the past 47 years. She was an exceptional mother, doting grandmother to four grandchildren who called her “Grams”, and a wonderful Christian friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert “Bobby” Guess.

Helen is survived by her husband Cliff; daughter Stacy Williams and husband, Kyle of Edmond, OK; two sons Philip Rogers of Oklahoma City, OK and Brett Rogers and wife, Abby, of Durant, OK; sisters Velma Jost of St. Louis, MO and Judy Guess of Tahlequah, OK, and Alice Panter of Rogers, AR; brother Tommy Guess and wife, Margaret of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren Claire and Austin Williams, and Bennett and Ava Rogers.

Helen was a beloved teacher in the Pawhuska Pubic Schools and was instrumental in helping hundreds of elementary students be successful. Her love for teaching was shown every day in school and her Church. In memory of Helen, a scholarship fund has been set up with the Pawhuska Public School Foundation, a 501(c)3. Checks may be made to the Helen Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1501, Pawhuska, OK. The Rogers family will match donations made during 2017 up to $10,000.

Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, August 24, 7 - 8PM, at the Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 25, 2:00PM, at the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska. Rev. Mark Formby will officiate. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Kendrick McCartney Johnson Funeral Home in charge in charge of arrangements.
