Michael L. Shipman, 71, passed away at his home surrounded by his family at 7:12 P.M. on Tuesday July 5th 2016 in Bartlesville, after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 8, in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Brian Shipman officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery at Osage, Oklahoma under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Shipman was born on February 24, 1945 in Osage, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of nine children born to Mary & Virgil Jackson Shipman. Mike graduated high school in Cleveland, Oklahoma in 1963, and went on to further his education at Okmulgee, Tech. Mike retired from ABB as a Technical writer. Mike enjoyed spending time with his friends, working on old cars, and looking for that perfect 1962 Chevy Impala to restore to pristine condition. Mike was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed very much.

Mike is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kay Jenean (Carter) Shipman of the home, two daughters Shelley Thompson, of Keller Texas, Jacque Lynn Dickson of Bartlesville, three grandsons; Ethan, Austin, and Ayden Thompson, all of Keller, Texas, one sister Gayle Smith of Cleveland, Ok, two brothers, Dale Shipman of West Columbia Texas, and Charles Shipman of Brazoria, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews and several brothers and sister-in-law's.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary & Jack Shipman, Sisters Meurla, Jackie, and Joy, and by brothers Buford and Virgil.
