Dorothy “Ruth” Weaver, age 97, of Dubuque, Iowa, was called home peacefully at 8:20 a.m., on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Hawkeye Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Dorothy's life, graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at Foraker Cemetery near Shidler, Oklahoma. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque, Iowa, and Trout Funeral Home, 505 West Grand Avenue, Ponca City, Oklahoma, are in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy was born… on May 3, 1919, in Hennepin, OK, daughter of Walter and Bertha (Manasco) Morton.

Dorothy was born and raised in Oklahoma. She would eventually meet and marry the love of her life, Everett Weaver, on October 10, 1940, and they would then move to New Mexico before finally settling in Dubuque, Iowa. They were blessed with almost 40 years together, and 3 wonderful children, before he was called home ahead of her on October 6, 1980. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and tending to her bountiful garden. She also thoroughly enjoyed socializing with family and friends, and was also known to occasionally try her luck at the casino. Dorothy was an avid reader and could easily be discovered curled up with her favorite book of the day in hand. Her greatest joy, however, was found in the precious quality time she would spend with her deeply adored family. We are saddened that Dorothy's 97 year journey on this earth has come to a close, but are grateful for the knowledge that she is now reunited with her husband, and her beloved daughter and son, for all of eternity.

Those left to cherish Dorothy's memory include her son, Thomas Weaver of Farley, IA, 6 grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Glenn Dement of Dubuque, IA.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Everett, a daughter, Sammie Dement, a son, Jerry Weaver, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

A Dorothy “Ruth” Weaver memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.

Dorothy's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of Hawkeye Care Center for all of the kind, compassionate and professional care of Dorothy and her family.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.behrfuneralhome.com.
