George Kent Clement, of Fairfax, Oklahoma, retired Teamster, left this world on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025 from home with family by his side. He was 77 years, 10 months and 14 days young and known to many simply as "Kent."
Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, he became a part of this world on August 25th, 1947, the first child of Jack Edwin and Mary Lorraine (Bunch) Clement. He attended Fairfax Schools, during which his junior high years he gained his nickname "Hump." Kent enjoyed playing football in junior high and high school and was a member of the 1964 State Championship Football team. He graduated with the Red Devil Class of 1965.
After graduation he attended classes at NOC in Tonkawa and Okmulgee Tech (now Central Tech) where he studied refrigeration and air conditioning. With the call from Uncle Sam sounding loudly he joined the local Army National Guard in Fairfax. In 1971, he was honorably discharged, grateful not to have been called to active duty in Vietnam.
At the start of his career, he worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron painting water towers? he took a long fall one day ending his painting career. Afterwards he worked for numerous companies as a Teamster on the pipeline both driving trucks and handling parts and equipment. He spent many years away working but often came back home to visit his family and friends.
From an early age, Kent loved the great outdoors fishing, quail hunting and later riding his Harley Davidson. Multiple years, he attended Bike week in Daytona Beach, Florida, also known as the World's Largest Motorcycle Event. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Fairfax and the Ralston American Legion Post #333.
Today he is survived by his siblings: sister Connie Clement of Ponca City, brother Bob Clement and wife Susan of Noble, Okla.; niece and nephew Chris Clement, Sandy Clement; great nieces and nephews Brycen and wife Karli Soliday, Hayden Clement, Adalyn Clement; plus, cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Clement (1993) and Lorraine Clement (2018); his paternal grandparents George Cecil and Elizabeth (Hutcheson) Clement; and his maternal grandparents George Daniel and Severy Elizabeth (Butts) Bunch.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15th at the Fairfax City Cemetery, Block H, where Kent will rest beside several family members. Pastor Jay Clapp will preside, with burial to follow under the care of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home.
Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a time of visitation at Hunsaker Wooten Chapel, 201 N. 4th Street. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the 2026 Children's Summer Reading Program at Fairfax Public Library, 158 E. Elm, Fairfax OK 74637 in Kent's memory.
