Helen McFadden Buxton

buxton-h-m

August 28, 1923 ~ January 25, 2023

Helen M. Buxton, long time resident of Fairfax. Oklahoma, succumbed to her death on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at CEARU Medical Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she resided the past two years of her life. She was 99 years, 4 months, and 27 days of age. Her parents, Bill and Bertha McFadden, moved with their family of three daughters to Fairfax from Kentucky when Helen was quite young. She loved Fairfax and never gave up hope for its revival.

Helen was educated in and graduated from Fairfax Schools. She married Howard L. "Hoot" Buxton on February 22, 1942, only a few short months before he was deployed to Europe during WWII. During this time, Helen worked in the payroll department at MacDonald Douglas Aeronautics in Tulsa. After Hoot was discharged, they relocated back to Fairfax and together, started Buxton Real Estate.

Helen should be remembered as a person always willing to help others in need, especially children and struggling families. Others have shared their memory of Helen as their Sunday School teacher at First Osage Baptist Church where she was a long-standing member. She enjoyed flower gardening and on Memorial Day, made living floral arrangements for a large number of family gravesites

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bertha McFadden, two sisters Pauline and Margie, and her husband Hoot. Those left to cherish her memory include her God child and family; numerous nieces and nephews and spouses.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2023, at First Osage Baptist Church with Pastor Kyle Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairfax City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the First Osage Baptist Church, 236 S. Main Street, Fairfax, OK 74637.

Special thank you to the nursing staff at CEARU and CURA Hospice nurses who were so compassionate, loving, and kind during her time there. What a difference you all made in her life!
