Roy Pierre Hurd

Funeral services for Roy Pierre Hurd, 60, were held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the Skyview Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Clay officiating and Rev. Rick McVeigh assisting. Hurd
died March 5 in the Henrietta Medical Center after a short illness.
Hurd was born at Okmulgee on May 28, 1926. He was the son of Charles R. and Gladys G. Hurd. He had been a resident of Okemah since 1948. He was a retired district operator and engineer
for Public Service Company of Oklahoma and retired in November 1986 after having worked for the company for more than 40 years. He was married to the former Lois Smithee at Dewar on Jan.
9, 1981.
Hurd was a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Skyview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lois Tanner Hurd, of the home; one son Charles Pierre "Chucky" Hurd, Oklahoma City; one daughter, Mrs. Denise Guinn, Tulsa; one step-son, Bill Tanner, Okemah;
one brother, George Hurd, Long Beach, Calif., two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Mae Moore, Carnegie and Mrs. Mary Margaret Dozier, Vernon, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Steve Saunders, Tommy Clinton, Warren Harjo, Amos Haydon, Nolan Adams and Cloy Parkinson.
Interment was in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
