Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 20, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Mt.
Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 825 California Avenue. Pastor Hiawatha T.
Calhoun is officiating with interment to follow at Union Cemetery.

Carrie Mae Hill was born on June 11, 1924, in Beggs, Oklahoma. Her mother
was Addie Burton and her father was Roger Pickins. The majority of Carrie Mae's
parenting was provided by her beloved grandparents, Abraham and Lulu Carter.
Carrie Mae had one brother, Robert Bruner and two sister, Lula McCowan and
Vera Biglow.

Carrie Mae was married at a young age to Willis Hill, Sr. Carrie Mae and
Willis were married for over forty-eight years before he preceded her in death
(April 1984). From their marriage six children were born: Willis Hill, Jr.,
Curtis Hill (deceased), Alonzo Hill (deceased), Andrew Hill, Caren Hill and
Bryan Hill (stillborn). Carrie Mae and Willis moved from the state of Oklahoma to
California after a short stay in Arizona. They have resided in the
Bakersfield area since 1939.

Carrie Mae Hill always appreciated the value of education and did all she
could to support her children in obtaining their education to the highest levels.
Not having an opportunity to advance her own education, she returned to
school following retirement. This proved to be one of the most rewarding periods
in her life. Mrs. Hill was highly skilled in her lifelong career as a
domestic worker. As well as a respected employee, she also established relationships
that endured over the course of her life.

Mrs. Hill was an active member in Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, the
Eastside Twelve, Friendship and Garden Clubs. Mrs. Hill greatly enjoyed visiting
the sick and shut in, especially those in convalescent homes. Her accepting
of Christ as her Lord and Savior, working in the church and sharing the word
with others were the most important things in her life along with her family.

Mrs. Hill leaves to celebrate her home-going, two sons, Willis Hill, Jr.,
wife, Alice (Bakersfield) and Andrew Hill, wife, Ingrid (Moss Landing); one
daughter, Caren H. Floyd, husband, Ernest (Bakersfield); eight grandchildren, Rene
Feliciano (Germany), Renet Wilson, husband, Leonard (Oregon), Curtis Floyd,
