George Jackson Ashing, Jr., 85, of Muskogee, died Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Pleasant Valley Health Care Center. He was born on January 3, 1935 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to George Jackson Ashing, Sr. and Margaret (Cauthon) Ashing. George graduated from high school in Morris, OK. He married the love of his life, Vera Palvene Wright on December 22, 1954. George worked as an electrician for Rural Electric for 42 years. He preached at United Pentecostal Church when asked and was youth leader at the church.

George was a loving man! He loved his family and especially his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Barry Lee Ashing.

George is survived by his wife, Palvene Ashing; children, Ricky Wayne Ashing and wife Dianna, Cindi (Ashing) Been and husband Charlie, and Patrick Ashing; brothers and sisters, Thomas Ashing, Cathy Ashing Allcock and husband Chuck and Ronnie Ashing and wife Sandra; grandchildren, Beau Jordan, Trica (Ashing) Combs and husband Tony, Michael Ashing and wife Amy, Rebecca (Ashing) Engman and husband Brian, Stephanie Ashing, Jennifer (Ashing) Wright and husband Lloyd, Chad Been and wife Angie, Angela (Ashing) Daniel and husband Adam, and Corey Been and wife Flesha and 22 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at United Pentecostal Church in Muskogee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at United Penetcostal Church. Interment will follow in Morris Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Checotah Funeral & Cremation Service. Condolences may be made online at www.checotahfuneralservice.com.
