Mary Lyons Methodist Cemetery

Located on NW 63rd, between Penn and May

From the Daily Oklahoman Sat 22 Sept 1956 p2: Lyons Cemetery in NW part of City…more than 50 burials…5 acre plot…trustees of cemetery at Methodist Church…cemetery near NW 63rd and May west of the Baptist Orphans Home on the south side of NW 63rd…warranty deed by Mary E. Lyon 1889 to the Methodist Church.

A monument in the plot reads “Dedicated to the memory of Mary Lyons and other Oklahoma Pioneers:

Martin Mott
Robert West
Homer West
Velma Stevens
Doris Stevens
Harold Stevens
Barbara Buck
C.B. Buck
------- Beadner
-------- Martin
-------- Stevens
-------- Martin
-------- Finley
Margaret Greenhaw
The names listed above are in order as on the monument. The number of names matches the number of empty spaces (unmarked graves?) between and around the marked graves.

These graves were moved from the original cemetery to Rose Hill Cemetery/Burial Park in the south end of the “Repose” Section near Grand Blvd. People at the cemetery said (on the phone) that the graves were moved about 1972 in order to build the apartments or condos that sit there now.
