FERN Hilda Lucille, 88, of Shelby, NC, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000 at Cleveland Pines in Shelby.
A native of Alva, OK, she was the daughter of the late Charles Joseph Beeler and Jessie Gerald Warr Beeler. While living in Oklahoma City, she was a home maker, a member of Putnam City Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and worked with young children, and worked with Colorado youth camps. After moving to Shelby in 1987, she was active in Keenagers and in the Keenage Choir at Elizabeth Baptist Church.
She was precededed in death by her husband, Kenneth Blayne Fern, Okla. City; a son, Kenneth Roy Fern, Lawrenceville, GA; two brothers, Hontas Beeler of California, and Marvin Beeler, Oklahoma.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Eugene Fern, Montgomery, TX and Terry Lee Fern, Kings Mountain, NC; one sister, Virginia Baldwin Neaderhiser, Okla. City; one brother, John Beeler, Portland, OR; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mission Fund at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 301 N. Post Road, Shelby, NC 28152. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
