1920 - 2005
Lonnie Leo Conell March 28, 1920 June 10, 2005 A graveside service will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., for Lonnie Leo Conell, 85, who passed away in Bakersfield on June 10, 2005. Chaplain Gary Bashor and the Kern County Veterans Association will officiate.
Lonnie Leo Conell was born on March 28, 1920 to his parents, Jess and Ida Conell of Okemah, OK.
He was a veteran of WWII and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre as an Amphibious Tank Driver until the Japanese defeat in 1945.
After WWII, Lonnie moved to California and worked drilling oil wells. He eventually worked his way up to become a drilling superintendent of oil wells around the world for over forty years.
He and his wife, Cindy and family lived in the Bakersfield, Springville, and Porterville area for the last 60 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Ida Conell of Okemah, OK; his sister Frances Garner of Okemah, OK; his wife Lucinda (Cindy) and his daughter Marilyn (Sue) Haney of Bakersfield.
He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Kennada of Okemah, OK; by sons, Lonnie Ray of Luther, OK, Lonnie (Sprout) Conell of Springville, CA; his daughters, Joyce Stewart of Spade, TX and Barbara (Corky) Shepherd of Bakersfield. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great- grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Father/Grandfather Lonnie will always be loved and missed by his surviving family members.
