Cleora Katherine "Cloie" Zenor

Sept. 28, 1916 ~ May 14, 2002

HIGGINS - Cleora Katherine "Cloie" Zenor, 85, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Canadian.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church in Higgins. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home of Amarillo, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mrs. Zenor was born in Ellis County, Okla., on Sept. 28, 1916, to Harry Jay and Bessie Burnett Sawyer. She attended elementary, junior high and high school in Higgins.

She graduated from West Texas State Teachers College at Canyon in 1939 with an all-levels education degree. She taught in the public school system for 37 years, retiring in 1977.

She married Ross G. Zenor on Aug. 18, 1940, in Cheyenne, Okla. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Higgins, Higgins Chapter 300 Order of the Eastern Star and Texas State Teachers Association. She served on an advisory council of West Texas State University for several years.

She was loved and will be missed by many friends, family members and former students.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Phyllis Sawyer Smith.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Phyllis Lea Suthers and husband, James, of Shattuck, Okla.; a son, Thomas Sawyer Zenor of Higgins; two grandchildren, William Kent Suthers and wife, Jana, of Enid, Okla., and Amy Lea Reece and husband, Terry, of Edmond, Okla.; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Scott Reece, Nathan Trent Reece and Mackenzie Lane Reece, all of Edmond, Okla.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Hemphill County Hospice; or a favorite charity.
