Gladys May Youree

May 2, 1914 ~ August 22, 2004

Longtime Coalinga resident, Gladys May Youree, 90, passed away August 22, 2004, in Bakersfield, CA. Graveside services will be conducted for her on Saturday, August 28, at 11:00 a.m., in Coalinga at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Gladys was born May 2, 1914 to Ebb C. and Effie May Claiborne in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. She attended schools in Cotton County, OK where she met and married Beatred T. Youree. Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her first and foremost love was for family and family activities. She was content as long as she was taking care of other family members, whom she always placed before herself. Gladys was employed by the J. C. Penny Company and retired from their Coalinga store as assistant manager.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Beatred T. Youree and brother, Eugene J. Claiborne. Survivors include her sons, Clayton Youree and wife, Pamela, Royce Youree and wife, Bonnie; daughter, Joyce Kozlowski and husband, Clarence; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Optimal Hospice, the caregivers at Hearthstone, and Bucky Hussain and his caregivers at his Samaritan Home. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Optimal Hospice.
