Michael Scott Young

Michael Scott Young
April 4, 1959 ~ August 30, 2020

Michael Scott Young, 61, of Dewey, Oklahoma, unexpectedly passed Sunday evening.

Mike was bigger than life itself. He had an amazing personality. He inspired us how to live life to the fullest each day; how to date your spouse and be all in as a dad. He was best known as the Jokester and could make anyone, and everyone smile. He loved being a husband, a father, and a grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. Our hearts are crushed, and tears keep falling. Your family will miss you dearly, however, we know that we have Big Mike as our guardian angel!

He was born on April 4, 1959, in San Francisco, California, to parents Durbert and Virginia May (Garrett) Young. Mike graduated high school at Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri and went to college at Pittsburg State University. He worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas for 39 years, working as a foreman in the service department. He was part of the United Steelworkers of America Union #14228.

He married Deborah Kaye Wilson on December 22, 1985. The couple had many good years and made many memories together. They are members of the East Bartlesville Christian Church.

Mike loved anything Nascar, softball and detailing vehicles. He loved being outdoors, playing softball, going to the lake, snow skiing and playing golf. He made the best out of the life he had!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Durbert Young, of Springfield, Missouri; in laws Rodrick and Ethel Wilson, of Bartlesville and nephew Jeffery Pennington of Tacoma, Washington.

Mike is survived by his wife, Debbie, of the home; daughter Mikah Sanders and husband Cody, of Copan; daughter April Kidwell and husband Joe, of Owasso, Oklahoma; daughter Tarrah Dixon and husband Tyler, of Grove, Oklahoma; grandchildren Breyer Sanders, Ella Kidwell, Jack Kidwell, Claire Wydick and Emma Wydick; sisters Linda Pennington and husband Carey, of Tacoma, Washington and Linda Lemons and husband Ron of California; sister in laws Pam Nietto and husband Marcos of Bartlesville and Gwen Owen and husband Don, of Bartlesville, along with a host of family and friends.

The family will receive guests at Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10am at East Bartlesville Christian Church with graveside services following at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Bartlesville Christian Church.
