Jimmy Dean Young
July 5, 1954 ~ April 28, 2025

Jimmy Dean Young, known to family and friends as Jim, passed away peacefully at his home in Statesboro, Ga., on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the age of 70, under the care of Georgia Hospice Care. Jim was born on July 5, 1954, in Bakersfield, Calif., to the late Franklin Dean Young and Betty Jean McClaren

Young. A proud veteran, he served more than 20 years in the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Major. During his distinguished military career, Jim was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and numerous other honors and commendations. While serving his country, Jim remained committed to his education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Master's in Human Resources, and an MBA.

Following his military retirement, he brought his leadership and expertise to the private sector, holding key roles including Area Manager at National Service Industry, General Manager at Allied Systems, Program Executor at Landis+GYR, Chief Executive Officer at United Linen Company, and most recently, Operations Manager at GH Tool before stepping away due to health concerns.

Jim lived in many places throughout his life--Bakersfield; Kentucky; East Hampton, Conn.; Tecumseh, Okla.; and finally Statesboro, where he moved in 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Sharmaine Holland Young; his son, James Young; a stepdaughter Savannah and James's mother, Jennifer Shepard Young.

A private service will be held at a later date in accordance with the family's wishes.
