Salina-
Cathy Young, born on October 19, 1951, in Rural Modesto,
California, passed away on August 20, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of
73. She was a dedicated homemaker whose warm heart and nurturing spirit
touched the lives of all who knew her.
Cathy had a passion for gathering loved ones together, and her home was always filled with laughter, love, and delicious food. She took great joy in cooking for family and friends, often preparing enough to ensure everyone around her felt included and cherished. In addition to her culinary talents, Cathy had a deep appreciation for the beauty of life, reflected in her love for gardening; she loved growing an array of flowers that brightened both her home and the hearts of those she loved. She found solace in the act of sewing and cherished warmth through her participation in Bible study. Her enthusiastic spirit also drew her to garage sales, where she enjoyed the thrill of treasure hunting and her next best bargain.
Cathy leaves behind a loving family. She is survived by her son, Larry Young and wife Loretta, from Salina, Oklahoma; her brothers Eddy Morse from Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Billy Morse and wife Kelly, from Pryor, Oklahoma; her sister Royce Hopper and husband Jerry from Colorado Springs, Colorado; her sister Suzy Moore from Tulsa, Oklahoma; and sister Linda Thompson from Pryor, Oklahoma. In addition to her siblings, Cathy was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and delighted in her role as a great-grandmother to 19 great-grandchildren.
Cathy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lonnie and Helen McWhorter, her devoted husband Jerry Young, and her brothers Larry Morse and Randy McWhorter. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, the warmth of her spirit and the love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Blue Springs Church in Salina. This gathering will serve as a beautiful reminder of the legacy Cathy leaves behind—a legacy of love, kindness, and an enduring bond with her cherished family.
