Barbara Ann (Wellejus) Young
June 27, 1928 ~ January 10, 2015

Barbara Ann Young was born June 27, 1928 in Englewood, New Jersey to Sven Wellejus of Denmark and Edna Mae (Sawallisch) Wellejus of the United States. She passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Guthrie, OK.

Barbara led a very adventuresome life. Her family moved to Bogota, Columbia and then on to South Africa. As an adult, she lived and worked in New York City. She was an intercept operator in Costa Rica before moving to Guthrie.

She is survived by her daughter, Caroline Young of Bogota, Columbia and her granddaughter, Monica and great- grandson,Tommy. She is also survived by her sister Karen Ross and husband, John of Camberwell, Melbourne, Austrailia.

She had many friends here in Oklahoma that loved her. Among them are Mike and Quepha Smith, Cheryl Coll, Linda Northup, Jo Adams, Roy and Mickey Weathers, Ben and Julie Fallin of Colorado and many others. She will also be missed by a special friend and caregiver, Rubia Walton.

Her friend, Dale Northup, was there to meet her at the gates of heaven.

A private service for friends will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
