Franklin Dewayne Wilson, 80, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away and went to his heavenly home on January 25th, 2024. Born on April 25, 1943, in Shawnee, he was the son of the late Frank and Lucille Wilson and was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyler “TJ” Wilson.
A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Franklin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Wilson, sons, Kevin Wilson of Tecumseh, and Ryan Wilson and wife, Kelli of Shawnee. He was also cherished by his grandsons Curtis Wilson, Chance Wilson, and Chase Wilson, as well as his granddaughter, Chandler Moore and husband, Carter. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Wilson and wife, Jean of Shawnee, with nephews Chris, Thomas, and Jacob Wilson.
Franklin had a successful career at Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked for 36 years as a machinist and finished his career as a CAD programmer. He was known for his dedication and expertise in his field.
Outside of work, Franklin had a passion for antiques. He was a proud member of the Keen Kutter Club of Missouri and collected Keen Kutter, Simmons, and Shapleigh items of all kinds. He enjoyed the thrill of finding unique items to add to his collection. He often spent weekends setting up at swap meets and gun shows. He and Linda also owned Remember When antique store in Shawnee. Franklin had a talent for haggling and rarely paid full price for anything, but if he really wanted something for his collection, he would pay more than it was worth. His love for collecting extended to animals, as he owned mules, coon dogs, goats, chickens, and family dogs that were affectionately named after their color. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing cars and riding his motorcycle. He lived a full and eventful life.
Franklin was a dedicated father who coached summer baseball teams for his sons throughout their childhood. He took great joy in watching them play sports, especially baseball. He always had his spot in his lawn chair, armed with his notecard to keep track of stats and post-game critiques. Franklin was persistent, supportive, and taught his sons and grandsons valuable skills that would serve them well as they grew into men. He loved spending time with them, fishing, hunting, and tinkering in his shop where he would build and fix things. Franklin's resourcefulness and generosity were evident in his extensive collection of tools and equipment that he willingly shared with the boys.
The family would like to especially thank the amazing nurses and staff at Loving Care Home Health and Hospice. The continued love and compassion expressed to Franklin, Linda, and the family is cherished. Also, a special thanks to Franklin’s dialysis nurse and nephrologist for their care over the past two years. Lastly, we want to thank Heidi and Kae Dawn for their special love and caregiving for Franklin and Linda. They are truly a God-send.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 17th at Home Church Tecumseh, 2401 E. Walnut Street (HWY 9) Tecumseh, OK 74873. (homechurchtecumseh.com). Franklin would appreciate your giving. Cremation arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Franklin will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of dedication, passion, and love will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
