James Bennett Wier
January 16, 1957 ~ June 19, 2025

James Bennett Wier, 68, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday June 19, 2025, at his home in Madill. James was born on January 16, 1957, to the late Mickey Wilbur Wier and Una Lea Ayers Wier.

He was raised in the Beaumont, Texas area and graduated in 1976 from Forest Park High School in Beaumont. After high school, James began his career at North Star Steel, where he worked for 20 years as a crane operator and machinist. He later moved to Pilot Point, Texas, and eventually made his home in Madill, Oklahoma, where he lived for the past 10 years.

He married Jerelyn Regacho DeLaCruz on May 26, 2017, in Iloilo City, Philippines. He was employed with Oklahoma Steel & Wire until his retirement in January 2023. A true outdoorsman, James was an avid fisherman and loved fishing at lakes throughout Texas and Oklahoma. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing trips with his brothers on Toledo Bend, creating memories that became family treasures. James will be remembered for his steady presence, hardworking spirit, and the love he had for his family and the great outdoors.

James is survived by:

Wife: Jerelyn R. Wier of Madill, Oklahoma

Daughter: Jamelyn R. Wier

Siblings: Mickey Wier and wife Phyllis of Beaumont, Texas

Valerie Cooley, Kountze, Texas

Kyle Wier and wife Cindy of Clark, Texas.

Nieces and nephews: David Wier, Becky Wier, Mike Wier, Michelle Wier, Ellen Clawson, and Shannon Cooley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved grandmother, Mytie Wier.
