TAHLEQUAH — Donna Lee West of Tahlequah, formerly of Sperry, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the age of 85 in Oklahoma City.

West was born on Nov. 24, 1925, in Sperry. She was one of 10 children to Wash and Grace (Ricki) Dilley. Donna grew up near Sperry and attended Sperry Schools. She married Floyd West on Oct. 25, 1942. They made their home in Shidler, where they raised three children.

She was a homemaker for some time and then she and her husband ran a family business, The Dixie Dog. She attended Northeastern State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in teaching. She taught in Tahlequah for a time before moving to Colorado, where she continued teaching.

After her retirement, she moved back to Tahlequah to be near family. She was a volunteer for the Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. She was also a faithful member of the Tahlequah First Baptist Church.

West was preceded in death by her parents, Wash and Grace Dilley; her son Floyd Everett West, sisters Marcie Young and Bonita Reeves, brother Everett Dilley, and infant brother "Butch."

She is survived by her daughter Deanna Stanfield and husband Tracy of Cormwell, son Ron West and wife Vickie of Lexington; four sisters, Doris Rogers of Claremore, Colleen Rainmondi of Skiatook, Reba Barton of Sperry, Janice Parker of Owasso; and brother Gail Dilley of Claremore.

She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 27, at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
