Larry Dale West

Larry Dale West
July 11, 1945 ~ June 25, 2025

Larry Dale West, a devoted husband and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, in his Bartlesville home, at the age of 79 after an extended decline in health.

Born on July 11, 1945, in Nowata, Oklahoma, Larry Dale was the fourth son out of six children born to Floyd and Dorothy Tippett West.

In his younger years, Larry Dale gained his education in Wichita, Kansas; Bell Plains, Kansas; and Delaware, Oklahoma, shaping his early experiences across these communities before setting down roots in his beloved home state. He only attended school through 9th grade but furthered his education at the age of 17 by joining the United States Air Force as a SAC (Strategic Air Command). He then worked for many companies as a machinist, a Pentecostal Bishop in the Church of God, and an over-the-road truck driver, traveling all over the United States. He loved doing woodworking, 3D puzzles, building models, and tinkering in his workshops. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 334 in Ramona, Oklahoma. He was also a member of Southview Church of God.

He married Linda Sue Shamblin on September 8, 1964, in Coffeyville, Kansas. They shared 45 years of marriage and had three children, their youngest surprisingly turning out to be a baby girl.

He married Ilene Mae Paris on February 6, 2012, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They shared 14 years together. She brought with her two boys he was proud to call stepsons.

Larry Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Mendel West, Denzel "Lee" West, and John West; his wife, Linda Sue West; his grandson, Ethan West; and stepson, Jonathan Gregory.

He is survived by his oldest brother, Jim West, and his family; his only sister, Cheryl (Les) Tallman and her family; his wife, Ilene West; his children, David (Brenda) West, Randy (Rebecca) West, and daughter Kiritie West from his first wife; stepson, Thomas (Sara) Gregory.

His grandchildren include Matthew (Marlena) West and 6 great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Samantha (Josh) Yeubanks and great-granddaughter and great-grandson. Shell (Cory) Quinn and great-grandson and two great-granddaughters. Randi (Wesley) Watson and two great-grandsons. Katelyn (Tyler) Cox and great-grandson. Amber (Cade) McDougal and two great-grandsons. Granddaughter Peyton Freitas. Grandson Wyatt Gregory.

Larry Dale was a man of quiet strength, deep wisdom, and enduring love. He lived a life of service to his family, to his country, and to all who were touched by his kindness.

At Larry Dale’s request, Stumpff Funeral Home of Bartlesville has been entrusted with cremation. A celebration of life is planned for August 2, 2025, at Lighthouse Church of God, 920 Lewark Street, Coffeyville, Kansas, at 11:00 AM. At his Papa’s request, his grandson Matthew West will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation to your favorite veterans charity be made in his name.
