John J Wentz III

John J Wentz III
February 03, 1958 ~ July 23, 2018

John J Wentz III, 60, passed away July 23, 2018 at Integris Baptist in Oklahoma City. With respect to John's wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Whinery Huddleston Funeral Service.

John was born in Elgin, North Dakota, February 3, 1958, to the late Calvin and Marcella (Sally) Wentz. His family moved to Bennet, Nebraska in 1969. He attended and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1976 and joined the US Army. John married Kathy Black on January 16, 1981 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Included in his 20 years of proudly serving his country, he served 3 tours in Germany and also served in Operation Desert Storm for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired from the Army at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in 1996. Following his retirement, John worked with Jewett Scott Trucking, 3D Trucking and Harrison Gypsum. He loved watching Nebraska Husker football, camping and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Wentz of Fletcher; his daughter, Crystal Fringer and her husband Joshua of Lawton; his son, Joshua Wentz of Richmond, Virginia; his sisters, Mary and her husband Keith Nicholson of Fairbury, Nebraska, Holly and her husband, Ken Maahs, Lori and her husband John Bruss and Kim and her husband Dave Cheney all of Bennet, Nebraska; his brother, Scott Wentz of Scottsdale, Arizona and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Fletcher Volunteer Fire Department of Fletcher, Oklahoma
