Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; one son, Patrick Lee Wendling; and two brothers, Huebert Lee Shoemaker and Andrew Jackson Shoemaker, Jr.
Rita is survived by one son, Michael Joseph Wendling and his wife, Cathy, of Lake Worth, Fla.; four daughters, Mary McKinley of Alva, Carolyn Newton and her husband, Landon, of Belen, N.M., Charlotte Langille of Wichita, Kan., and Margaret Rose Wendling of Salina, Kan.; one brother Charles Shoemaker of Owensboro, Ky., one sister, Mary Rose Shoemaker of Owensboro, Ky.; five grandchildren, William Perry and his wife, Heather, of Oklahoma City, Cindy Norton of Chandler, Ariz., Daniel Graham of Belen, N.M., Oscar Wendling of Salina, Kan., and Brian Langille of Wichita, Kan.; four great grandchildren, Tyler Norton, Tanner Norton, Douglas Perry and Emilee Perry; other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Sacred Heart Church in Alva. The celebrant will be Father Irudayaraj Yeddanapalli. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. at the Resurrection Cemetery in Wichita, Kan., with Father Doug Campbell of St. Jude Catholic Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Beadles Nursing Home Activity Fund.
