L. KENNETH WEDEL

The funeral for L. Kenneth Wedel, age 79, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2006, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Norman (Shorty) Unruh will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kenneth was born October 9, 1926, in Goltry, OK to Jake J. and Edna (Johnson) Wedel, and died July 13, 2006, at home. He moved to Meno, OK at a young age and attended grade school there. He graduated from Lahoma High School in 1945. Kenneth married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Wells, and to this union two children were born.

They lived in Enid where Kenneth was employed by West Side Feed Store and Safeway. He lived in Oklahoma City, King-fisher, and Woodward while employed by Safeway and retired after 20 years. He then worked for the State of Okla-homa for 17 years. Kenneth and Phyllis moved back to Enid in 1991.

Surviving are Phyllis, his wife of 61 years; two daughters, Lynda Staples and husband Ray of Weatherford, TX, and Sandra Brown and husband Larry of Enid; five grandchildren, Mark Brown and Tonya of Plano, TX, Rene (Staples) Hansen and Tim of Weatherford, TX, Jeanie (Brown) Martin and Matt of Enid, Loree (Staples) Clark and Shawn of Peaster, TX, and Kenzie (Staples) Montgomery and Ben of Lubbock, TX; 10 great-grandchildren, Sarah and Samantha Brown, Colton and Jake Hansen, Jessica and Katelyn Martin, Elizabeth and Jarrett Clark and Benjamin and Brant Montgomery.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arnold. He was a friend to many and will be missed by all who know him.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or Cancer Research with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
