Daisy Watson was born March 1, 1931, in Forrest City, Arkansas, one of seven children born to Olly Franklin and Dorthy Louise Norton. She passed away on October 27, 2022, at the age of 91. Daisy and her first husband had one child, Imogene Smith. Then in 1965 Daisy and William Watson were married. They had one child, Mayble Watson.

Early in her life, Daisy worked in fields of cotton, corn and broom corn. She loved all plants and her favorite hobby was raising flowers in her yard. Daisy did much canning, baking cookies and cakes, and making different kinds of candy. Her baking and candies were always in demand. If you ever had the pleasure of visiting Daisy, you never left hungry. Some of her other things that she loved to do was take care of children and grandchildren. She loved dogs, birds, and raised all kinds of other animals through the years. To keep herself busy, she crocheted and made crafts of all kinds. Another talent was being a seamstress. She made most of her family’s clothes including her granddaughter’s wedding dress. She always made homemade gifts that are treasured to this day. Football was her favorite game to watch and she had colored many, many books. She considered her son-in-law, Edward, her son.

As time went on, Daisy worked doing many other things. She worked at the nursing home in Helena in the kitchen for a few years. She had been a waitress, bartender, and taught ballroom dancing. Oh, and let’s not forget her love for the casino. The stories and memories she told of her adventures her grandkids will never forget. Later on she enjoyed traveling with Mayble. They had traveled all of Route 66.

Those who preceded Daisy in death include her husband, William Watson; her daughter, Mayble Watson; her brothers, Robert Norton, Garnet Norton, and Ray Norton; sister-in-law, Geneva Norton.

Survivors include her daughter, Imogene Gage and husband, Edward Noble Gage; her grandchildren, Kimberly D. Simonsen and Gerry Ray Gage; her brother, Louis Norton and wife, Bobbi; her sisters, Annie Jean Meals and husband, Walter and Patty Gulley and husband, Mike.
