Rodney Brock Ward of Oklahoma City was born on April 17, 1967, to Cynthia (Austin) and Terry Ward in Shawnee, Okla. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Integris Baptist Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Rodney attended Moore Public Schools and graduated high school in 1985. He was a student at Oklahoma Community College for two years. In school he was on the wrestling team at Western Oaks through junior high. He also made the wrestling team at Moore High School.
Rodney worked at Tinker Air Field and then for himself painting houses. He also worked for AFLAC Insurance as a sales associate.
He always wanted to be a preacher, and enjoyed talking to others about Jesus. Rodney had such a good heart and he kept everyone laughing. He was a great artist - he could draw anything, and loved reading and studying his Bible. He loved his family dearly and loved going to all the family reunions.
Rodney is survived by his mother Cynthia (Austin) and Jim Allen of Duncan, Okla.; his father Terry and Esther Ward of Moore, Okla.; a sister Shannon and Ritchie Vick of Moss Point, Miss.; stepsisters Devera Scheller of Bayton, Texas, Brandy Hobbs of Mont Belvieu, Texas, a stepbrother James Allen III of Little Rock, Ark.; aunts Janell James and Nina Austin, uncles Terry Austin, Stan Austin, Dan Austin, all of Shawnee, Brad Vinson of Guthrie, Okla., and Marc Ward of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and grandmother Rose Austin and grandfather Russel Austin, his grandfather and grandmother Elmer and Margaret Ward, an aunt JoEllen Watson, uncles Orville Austin, Doyle Austin, Rudy Ward, and Cousin Steven Ward.
Viewing will be available Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 18, 2025, at Walker Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
