Eva Alene (Cottrell) Ward
March 24, 1939 ~ May 24, 2025

Eva Alene Ward of Norman was born on March 24, 1939, to Richard Evelyn and Ora May (Wofford) Cottrell in Wheeler, Texas. She passed on May 24, 2025, at the age of 86 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

After graduating from Shawnee High School, Eva worked for the City of Shawnee Water Department and began her family by marrying Darrell Ward on September 7, 1962, in Shawnee, Okla., and lived in Chandler, Okla., where they were blessed with one son, Greg. The family was transferred to Guthrie, Okla., in 1973 and finally settled in Norman, Okla., in 1978.

Eva and Darrell were members of Bethel Baptist Church and Eva worked as the office manager for Pioneer Hearing Aid Center in Norman until she retired. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, traveling, volunteering at Bethel Baptist Church, and attending University of Oklahoma basketball games.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, her parents Richard Evelyn and Ora May Cottrell, and her siblings Elbert C. Cottrell, Dorothy Marie Hearin, Bobbie Helen Beck, and Elva Elizabeth Newell.

She is survived by her son Greg and his wife Nancy of Oklahoma City and granddaughter, Anne Entz of Washington, D.C.

Contributions in Eva's memory may be made to Bethel Baptist Church in Norman (www.bbcnorman.com). Eva's family has entrusted her care to Tribute Memorial Care in Norman (4300 W. Indian Hills Road; (405) 292-4787). Her family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday May 30, 2025, from 6 -8 p.m. Condolences and memories of Eva may be posted to Tribute Memorial Care's website at www.tribute.care.
