Beloved Father, Grandfather, and Friend
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Steven Scott Wakely I, who departed this life on May 13, 2025, in Chandler, Oklahoma, at the age of 64.
Steve was born on October 7, 1960, in Chandler, to Harold David and Norma Elizabeth (Cullison) Wakely. A proud, lifelong resident of Chandler, Steve graduated from Chandler High School in 1978, where he was known for his talent and passion on the baseball field.
Throughout his life, Steve was a hardworking and dedicated member of the community. He worked in HVAC for most of his adult life, eventually founding and operating his own successful business, Wakely Heat and Air. In addition to service work, Steve also ran a parts store for HVAC units. Steve was also deeply involved in his family's legacy, helping his father operate the movie theatre in Chandler for many years.
Steve had a love for preforming in western plays, horseback riding, reenacted gunfights, shooting, and peaceful days spent fishing. He also took great joy in singing country music and dancing.
Steve will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but for his outspoken nature and his ability to connect with everyone he met. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Wakely; and a brother, Alan Wakely.
He is survived by his father, Harold Wakely; his children, Kaci (Wakely) Satepauhoodle, Brandon Wakely and his wife, Baylee Wakely, and Steven Wakely II; a granddaughter, Kodie Rose Satepauhoodle; his siblings, Randall Wakely and his wife, Lela Wakely, Dean Wakely and his wife, Tina Wakely, and Diane Leftwich and her husband, Mike Leftwich; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
