Doris Waddell, 82 year old resident of Kingston and former Woodward resident, died Friday, November 21, 2014 in Ardmore. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Beau Hague officiating.

Doris Darlene Crissup was born November 26, 1931 to Robert and Gladys (Snow) Crissup, the sixth of eight children. She grew up in the Selman area and attended Freedom schools. Doris married Glenn Gaylord Wood on October 30, 1947 and they made their home on a farm in the Lookout Community north of Freedom. Doris and Glenn adopted two children Deborah Dianne and Gary Glenn.

On May 5, 1972, Doris married Woodward Veterinarian D. L. “Ferd” Waddell. They molded their five children into one family. This was not without some times of stress but they made the best of it and their marriage became a love story. They shared 42 wonderful years together, enjoying life to the fullest. Camping out and fishing led to many happy times at Canton Lake. They went on numerous fly-in fishing trips in Canada over the years. Their travels took them to Kenya, East Africa, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, all over Canada and Old Mexico.

Doris was a great cook and seemed at her best in the kitchen cooking up great meals. She liked crocheting and quilting and usually had three or four projects in various stages going at once. When Ferd retired and they moved to Lake Texoma, Doris decided she was thru fishing which allowed her even more time for cooking and sewing. Life at Texoma was good and she enjoyed good neighbors and milder weather, however, Woodward was always home.

Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn, four brothers, Arvid, Donald, Marvin, and Kenneth Crissup, one sister, Marquita Devous, one son Tom Waddell, one grandson Don Eldon Waddell, and one great-granddaughter, Addison Waddell.

Doris is survived by her husband Ferd of Kingston; two daughters, Deborah Lawrence of Oklahoma City; her children Zach Lawrence and wife Whitney; Bridgette Lawrence Speake and husband Tracy; Karen Merrill and husband Ken of Fargo; her children, Josh Wise and wife Kenna; Amanda Upchurch and husband Tanner, and Coulter Merrill; Amy Popham and husband James; Kelly Merrill and wife Kristin; Andrew Merrill; two sons, Gary Wood of Woodward; Cliff Waddell of Kingston; Tom’s children, Curt Waddell and wife Amanda; Kent Waddell and wife Crystal; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Terbush, Bonnie Jean Wagner; other relatives and a host of good friends.

Memorials may be given to the American Red Cross with the funeral home handling the donations.
