June 20, 1939 ~ August 30, 2023

Joe Edward Vickers, age 84, of Maramec, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in Shawnee.

He was born June 20, 1939 on the family farm in Maramec, Oklahoma, to Pearl and Delories Kathrine (Betts) Vickers.

Joe attended school at Maramec Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1958.

After graduation Joe joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and beyond working in various fields but mainly with the missile defense system until his retirement in 1981.

After retirement Joe returned to the family farm in Maramec where he helped the family on the farm and doing odd jobs. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering with things. He loved helping people.

He was preceded in death by five siblings, Pearline Anderson, Rena Faye Vickers, Robert Vickers, Pete Vickers, and Billy Jack Vickers.

He is survived by his nephew, Rex Anderson (Dr. Gaynell) of Shawnee, OK; 2 nieces Rita Williams (Bill) of Stillwater, and Susie M. McAlister (John) of Pawnee.

No formal services will be held at this time. Cremation arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
