Curtis Lee Vaughn

Curtis Lee Vaughn
July 20, 1963 ~ August 10, 2021 (age 58)

Curtis Lee Vaughn was born on July 20, 1963 in Inglewood, California to Coy Eldon and Nancy Fletcher Vaughn. He left this world on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 58. He and Diane Morgan Vaughn were married June 22, 1991. They raised together five beautiful daughters and countless other children and youth that passed through their home over the last thirty years. Curtis received an associates degree from The Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 1993. He became a licensed funeral director and embalmer on June 8, 1993.

For many years Curtis served the Durant community by first working for the Murray Funeral Home, washing cars, and setting tents. He later became the manager of Coffey~Murray Funeral Homes. He continued his career with Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home and over the past few years moved into the management role of all Shain Family Funeral Service holdings all over Oklahoma and Texas. Many found his compassionate demeanor to be especially comforting during their time of need.

Curtis enjoyed many hobbies including motorcyling, camping with family, fishing and driving the boat with his grandkids. His most proud accomplishment and greatest joy was his family and he was just the right person to help raise five daughters in a house with two bathrooms. Curtis was a member of the Masonic Lodge and an active member of the Durant Kiwanis. His favorite community event was cooking sausage and bacon for the pancake breakfast. Curtis was a member of the Baptist Faith and attended The Mead Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Vaughn; five daughters and sons-in-law Brandon and Abbi Jackson, Jerry and Kimberly Norris, Chris and Kasondra Thomasson, Mark and Melissa Boydstun and Roger and Kendra Chronister along with special children Kara Kuykendall, Sarah Adams, Justin DaVault and Daniel Jackson, and twenty-one grandchildren. He is also survived by mothers Nancy Decker and Carol Vaughn, brothers, Dennis and Sheila Vaughn, Glen and Joan Vaughn, sisters Karen and Mark DeLong and Tina Vaughn. Special brothers and sisters-in-laws Robert and Kenettia Daws and Wesley and Roberta Morgan, five nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Coy Vaughn and brother Guy Vaughn.

Family hour will be from 6-8:00 PM on Friday August 13, 2021 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of his life will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 14th at the Mead Baptist Church in Mead, Oklahoma with Bro. Kerry Groce and Bro. Philip Wesley officiating.

Pallbearers are Wesley Morgan, Justin DaVault, Daniel Jackson, Chris Morgan, David Staton and Paul Wesley. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Daws, Gary Manker, Johnny Rutherford, Brian Patton and the sons-in-law.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Colton Sherrill Memorial Foundation at the First Texoma National Bank in Curtis’s name.
