Sylvia Lynda (Perez) Vaughan
October 22, 1948 ~ January 3, 2023

Sylvia Lynda (Perez) Vaughan was born on October 22, 1948, to the late Alberto C. Perez and Joaquina Cavazos Perez in Raymondville, Texas. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away peacefully without pain on January 3, 2023, in Wylie, Texas

Sylvia grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. She graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1967. She went on to attend Del Mar College earning an associate degree. She later attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She enjoyed a long-time career as an educator.

Sylvia started her career with the West OSO Independent School District in Corpus Christi, Texas where she taught fifth and sixth grades. She was also the coach for the Girls’ Track and Field Team at Skinner Elementary. Sylvia was also a Bilingual consultant for West OSO Independent School District. In 1977 she relocated to Dallas, Texas where she continued her career as a Bilingual / ESL teacher. After serving 31 years in education, she retired in 2003.

Sylvia leaves to cherish precious memories her children, Jacqueline (Jackie) Hill, and Troy Lee Ford, Jr. (Andrea Ramirez) of Wylie, Texas; grandchildren - Karina, Kassie, Cevanna, Rico, and Catalina; great-grandchildren, Leo and Nora; siblings - Albert C. Perez (Cleo), and Richard Oscar Perez (Marita) of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Therisa S. Perez of Dallas, Texas; nephews, Michael, Brian, and Marcos; nieces, Jennifer, Kristine, and Emily; and a host of beloved friends.
