LeRoy L. "Curley" Vanderheiden

September 19, 1933 ~ June 2, 2017

LeRoy L. "Curley" Vanderheiden passed away at his home in Hattiesburg, MS.on Friday, June 2, 2017. He is survived by his love and companion, Hilary Lorentson of Amelia Island, Florida. They were together for many years; loved and supported one another through life's challenges. We love you, Hilary. You will always be a member of our family.

Also surviving are his son and wife, Jeff & Ronda Vanderheiden of Hattiesburg, grandson Tyler Vanderheiden of Birmingham, AL, granddaughter Sara Vanderheiden of Hattiesburg and great-grandson, Connor Vanderheiden of Hattiesburg. He is also survived by son Alan Vanderheiden of Atlanta and granddaughter, Katie Vanderheiden of Flowood, MS. sister Margie Rheaume of Sacramento, CA also survives.

Curley was preceded by his wife Lorene Mae "Renie" Vanderheiden on June 15, 1995.

Curley was born in Adair County, Oklahoma September 19, 1933 to Hershel S. and Ruby Vanderheiden. Hershel and Ruby divorced early in Curley's life. Later, Hershel married Gladys Wooten who was a loving mother and grandmother. Although he traveled extensively throughout the United States, Oklahoma was always special and his home. Curley worked 40 years with Al Johnson Construction Company of Minneapolis, MN and was proud of his vocation.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving his country in the early 1950's. Dad's love for his country was only matched for his love of family. He considered himself an active Marine until the last day of his life. God Bless you Dad, for serving our country.

LeRoy attended Temple Baptist Church in Oak Grove, MS. Dad lived a servant's life and never met a stranger. Faithful in his life he loved and served the Lord through his examples of giving. He will be missed.

Memorials may be made to two groups that were special to Dad. Please consider giving in Curley's name to Temple Baptist Church 5220 Old Hwy 11 Hattiesburg, MS 39402 and Oak Grove High School Booster Club c/o Helen Price 5198 Old Hwy 11 Hattiesburg, MS 39402

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home with visitation from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Hulett- Winstead Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
