Marvin DeWayne Van Atta

Marvin DeWayne Van Atta
September 14th, 1944 ~ February 4th, 2018

Marvin DeWayne Van Atta, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, born September 14th, 1944, was promoted to heaven on February 4th, 2018. He was born to Lawrence Earl and Donna Louise Spurgin Van Atta, of Bartlesville.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jack Van Atta, his parents and by 1 grandchild, Mackenzie "Mac" Weissman.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Sue Miller Van Atta. They were married September 25th, 1965 and loved each other for 52 years of marriage.

He is survived by his sister Earlene Brumley of Bartlesville.

He is survived by 2 children, son Lawrence D Van Atta and wife Danielle of Bartlesville, and daughter Jeanette' Weissman and husband Russ of Pennsylvania. He has 6 grandchildren, Lauren Dempsey, Justin Van Atta, Taylor Campbell, Michael Van Atta and Elizabeth Weissman. And 6 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

He always wore a uniform, whether it was Navy, Army, Scrubs, Police or Security. And on occasion even a 3 piece suit or overalls while pastoring. His bible never left his side. He was known as the Pistol Packing Preacher. His favorite saying was "I ministered to more people and brought more souls to Christ from behind the badge than from behind the pulpit".

We want to thank Comforting Hands and The Journey Home for all their loving care and devotion.

Memorial Service will be held at Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church at 1pm on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018.
