Norman Lyle Unruh
April 16, 1930 ~ June 27, 2013

WOODWARD - Service for Norman Lyle Unruh, 83, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Grace Mennonite Church, with Pastors Gary Lillie and Richard Stephens officiating.

Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

The service will be broadcast live at Golden Oaks Retirement Village Chapel.

Shorty was born to Rev. Albert and Nina (Becker) Unruh on April 16, 1930, in Ringwood, Okla., and passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, in Enid, Okla.

Shorty married his high school sweetheart, Rose Marie Reimer, on March 4, 1951, in Medford.

They made their home in Enid, where he owned and operated Unruh's Automotive Repair for 45 years.

Shorty was a longtime member of Grace Mennonite Church. He sang with the Grace Mennonite Quartet for 50 years. He was active with the adult choir, both singing and directing, Jr. Department Song Leader, and was director of the Youth Camp Retreats. He also served as associate pastor.

Shorty sat on the board of directors at Oklahoma Bible Academy and Grace Mennonite Church. For the last 19 years, Shorty was the chaplain at Golden Oaks Retirement Village.

He is survived by wife, Rose of the home; sons, Randy Unruh and wife Carolyn, and Rocky Unruh and wife Lorene, both of Enid; daughters, Sheri Campos and husband Frank of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lori Nichols and husband Tom of Enid; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jack Unruh.

Shorty was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Allen Unruh.

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Bible Academy or Golden Oaks Chapel.
