Jimmy Cash True

Jimmy Cash True
September 3, 1938 ~ March 5, 2022

Jimmy Cash True, 83, of Elk City, KS, died Saturday in Bartlesville.

JT, as he was known, was born the son of Jack and Eva Mae (McGinnis) True on September 3, 1938, in Winfield, KS. He was raised in Whitewater, KS, and moved to Independence, KS, with his mother in 1975. For 20 plus years he operated JT’s Bait and Tackle. He was known for his famous stink bait that was made at home, and JT never ever let anyone in on the secret recipe, no matter who asked or how many times they tried. JT married Annie Mae Dreher in 1960, and she preceded him in death on November 25, 2013.

JT’s passion in life was fishing every day, most often beneath the Elk City Lake spillway. When not fishing, he was keeping up with his grandkids and spending time with them. He will be dearly missed.

JT is survived by his brother Tom True and wife Cindy, stepson Dusty Dreher, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelynn, wife Annie, son Jimmy Cash True Jr., daughters Teresa Cash and Amber Rose, and brothers Jack and John True.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, at the First Christian Church in Elk City, KS, with Pastor Randy Beeman officiating. Interment will be held in the Whitewater Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
