Gerald "Butch" Travis
February 7, 1944 ~ June 10, 2015

Gerald "Butch" Travis, of Wynnewood, passed away June 10, 2015 at his home near Wynnewood, Oklahoma with his family close at the age of 71 years.

Butch was born February 7, 1944 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Glaston Douglas and Ethel Mae [Weaver] Travis. Butch was raised in the Pauls Valley and Roady area and is a graduated from Woodland School.

He first began working for Jacobson's Ready Mix Concrete and then worked at the Pauls Valley State School for a time. Later, Butch went to work in the Oil Fields for Dowell where he worked as an Operator and a Safety Trainer and later returned to the Pauls Valley State School, known now as Southern Oklahoma Resource Center, where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 2005. This area has been his home all of his life and he attended the Baptist Church.

He was married to Dorothy McCabe in at their home near Wynnewood, OK. on July 28, 2001.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Billie Dean Travis Smith and Francis Gosnell; and brother, John D. Travis.

Surviving family include: his wife, Dorothy of the home; children, Christopher Ray Travis and his wife, Sandy, of El Reno; Jason Douglas Travis of Houston, Texas; Joe Gregg and his wife, Radonna, of Lone Grove; Darrell Gregg, and his wife, Donna, of Pauls Valley; and Carl Gregg and his wife, Pauline, of Sayre; sisters, Bobbie King of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Jean Hauser of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Darlene Pierce and her husband, David, of Moore; brother, Nick Arden of Oklahoma City; numerous grandchildren including, Nicholas Edward Travis of El Reno; Cody Travis and Bryson Travis, both of Pauls Valley; and Bobby Darrell Walker and his wife, Blanca; and Karla Veal; a number of great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, and Gerald's best friends, Paul and Vera Thacker, of Wynnewood.

Memorial Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Paoli First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jim Dehart. Services for cremation are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. We invite you to send the family a message of condolence at the Guest Book link below.
