Ernest Dale Tolin
November 27, 1927 ~ June 24, 2022

Ernest Dale Tolin, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma died on June 24, 2022, at the age of 94. He was born in Clay Center, Kansas on November 27, 1927 to Ernest H. and Olive C. (Van Horn) Tolin.

Dale graduated from Clay County Community High School in 1945 where he was active in the instrumental music program and all sports. He attended Kansas State University as a freshman where he played both football and basketball before enlisting and serving in the Navy for two years. When he returned to Kansas State, he received a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering

in 1951 and 1952. Immediately upon graduation from Kansas State, Dale took a job with Phillips 66 Petroleum Company, continuing his work with Phillips and eventually becoming Product Manager for Applied Automation, Inc. He finished his professional career with 33 years total service.

On June 3, 1951, Dale married the former Donna Jean White, also from Clay Center, Kansas. Together they raised three children and celebrated 55 years of marriage before Donna's passing in 2006.

Dale placed an immense value in his faith in God and served in many different capacities at East Cross United Methodist Church, Bartlesville through the years. He loved sports, especially baseball, basketball and football, and coached many of his sons' sports teams as they were growing up. He enjoyed working on cars and traveling from a young age. Once Dale could no longer play or coach sports, he spent many hours watching sports, especially if anyone in his family was playing.

In 2008, Dale married Hazel McCord. They were able to take many trips before their health slowed them down. They spent over 13 happy years together before Hazel's passing.

Survivors include two sons, Doug Tolin and wife Susan of Stillwater, OK, Tim Tolin and wife, Melissa of Tulsa, OK, one daughter, Diana Lewis and husband Troy of Broken Arrow, OK. Nine grandchildren, Christy Lang and husband Gavin, Kyle Tolin and wife Lisa, Keely Tolin, Austin Tolin, Molly Karpe and husband Scott, Emily Clark and husband Eddie, Amanda Hahn and husband Dan, Michael Lewis and wife Molly and Amy Biggs and husband Ben. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include children of his second wife, Karen Salge and husband Morris, Steve McCord and wife Teri, Russ McCord and wife Toni, and Linda Johnson and husband George. Special thanks are given to loving caregivers James Beversdorf, Sheri Kennedy, Rita Putney and Michelle Williams.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, both of his wives and a great-grandson, Bryce Lang.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 1st at East Cross United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Ron Perceful officiating. Services are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Cross United Methodist Church, 820 SE Madison, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
