August 2, 1935 ~ December 6, 2022

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Elroy Arthur Todd, 87, of Gettysburg, South Dakota will be held 10:00 A.M. Sunday December 11, 2022, in the Yad El Messianic Congregation, Enid, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M. Saturday December 10, 2022 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home who are directing all services. Graveside services are pending, in the Gettysburg Cemetery, Gettysburg, South Dakota.

Elroy was born August 2, 1935, to Arthur Earnest and Marie Ulrich Todd in Gettysburg, South Dakota and passed from this life December 6, 2022, in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised in Gettysburg, South Dakota. Among his fondest memories were always having fresh pie growing up, riding his pony Buster, from his very first day of school, which was a Country School in Potter County; and later in 5th grade, driving his sister to school in a buggy. Elroy worked as a farmer most of his life raising animals and crops. He served in the South Dakota National Guard. He also worked at a card parlor, the Potter County Co-op, and was a salesman selling safes and John Deere equipment. He also ran heavy equipment and built roads for the Highway department and was a real estate broker for fifty years.

Elroy married Doris Ann Seely January 2, 1958, in the Methodist Church of Gettysburg together they had two children; Arthur and Marietta. The family made their home in Gettysburg, South Dakota. Elroy was always interested in antiques and working the family farm. He never missed an opportunity to play pinochle. He attended church through the years at the Methodist church, Mennonite church, Southern Baptist Church, and most recently Yad El Messianic Jewish Congregation. He was ordained a minister and was a Christian.

He is survived by two sisters, Alvina Wall and husband Danny of Salt Lake City, Utah and Naomi Bensen and husband Church, of Aberdeen, SD, his daughter Marietta Martinez and husband Rau'l, of Enid, Ok two grandchildren, Courtney Paynter, of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Jason Clark, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; four great grandchildren, Dylan Emmanuel & Henry Isaiah Paynter, Dayton Troy and Allison Faye Clark.

He was preceded in death by his wife Doris, his parents Arthur and Marie Todd, and his son Arthur F. Todd.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the Hospice Circle of Love.
