Gene H. Tindel

Dec. 13, 1927 ~ Aug. 26, 2007

Graveside services for Gene H. Tindel, 79, of Tyler, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Jeff Christian officiating.

Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery in Tyler under direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Tindel passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, at the Serenity House in Tyler. He was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Anadarko, Okla., to the late John Homer and Cary O. Tindel.

Gene and his family moved to Tyler in 1966. He was a member and a former deacon of Glenwood Church of Christ. Gene proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army and during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force. He was the vice president and general manager of the Tyler-based Gibson's Discount Center and an independent home builder in Tyler for several years. He enjoyed carpentry and playing golf.

Mr. Tindel was preceded in death by a sister Betty Dixon.

Gene is survived by his loving family including his wife of 59 years Mary Tindel of Tyler; son, Terry Tindel and wife Pam of Tyler; daughter, Cindy Jones of Woodstock, Ga.; grandchildren, John Tindel, Josh Tindel, Chris Jones and wife Cathy, Casey Jones and Kaitlyn Jones; great-grandchild, Tyler Jones; and sister, Joanne Waters of Chickasha, Okla.
