Lucy Cardell Tidwell passed away on January 23, 2025, at the Lemay Avenue Nursing Home in Fort Collins, CO. She was born on March 29, 1936, in Arlington, Texas to Thurman and Francis Watkins (Anderson).
On May 26, 1951, she eloped with the love of her life Daniel V. Tidwell, in Rockwall, TX. They were married 64 years. Lucy faithfully served beside her husband in full-time church ministry for 50+ years. She first supported him in youth and music ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, TX. In 1957, they started a new Calvary Baptist in Perry, OK, and 8 years later moved to Bartlesville, OK to serve at Baptist Temple (now Crossroads Baptist) for 41 years.
Lucy wore many hats in the ministry-church pianist, self-taught organist, secretary, event planner, Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school organizer, caregiver, and so much more. As times changed, Lucy took classes at the tech school to improve her computer and bookkeeping skills. Each summer, she assisted in organizing a trip for families and teens to Silver State Youth Camp in Sedalia, CO, for a week of in-depth Bible teachings, sports, and a rodeo. The trip was always full of memory making adventures.
Lucy’s faith, devotion, and love for the Lord, her family, and others were evident by her smiling face, her joyful laughter, and imparted wisdom from her well-marked Bible, and many shared precious tears.
Lucy is survived by her son Garry Tidwell of Bartlesville, OK; her son, Philip Tidwell and his wife Dierdre of Fort Collins, CO; her daughter-in-law, Kim Tidwell Treas, of Yukon, OK; grandchildren Carrie Alexander Walters, Elise Torres, Daniel Tidwell, Chad Render, Katrina Urbina, Keely Evans, Rachel Kummerfeld, Landon Moore, Katelyn Lambert and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by 3 sisters: Dottie Golden, Gayle Gann, and Lisa Stephens.
Her parents; husband, Daniel; her daughter, Cynthia Render; her son, Paul Tidwell; her sister, Margaret Fischer, and brother, Bruce Watkins, preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church, 3333 E Tuxedo Blvd, Bartlesville, OK.
