January 24, 1982 ~ December 9, 2025

Cody Thompson, 43 year old Woodward resident, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 22, 2025 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donnetta Hunter officiating.

Robert Cody Thompson was born on January 24, 1982 in Woodward to Robert Neel and Saundra Lynn (Dickerson) Thompson. He grew up in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School. Cody was always interested in being in law enforcement. He was a member of the Sheriff's Explorer group when he was young. After graduating, he attended prison guard training in McAlester for 6 weeks. He was then employed as a prison guard at the North Fork Correction Center in Sayre, Oklahoma. He was also a guard at the Granite prison the night of the riot. When North Fork closed, he went to work at Diamondback Correctional in Watonga. He then began transporting prisoners from Colorado to Huntsville for U.S. Extraditions. He also served as a reserve deputy for Woodward and Woods County. He was currently working in maintenance at the City of Woodward.

He enjoyed fishing and wildlife rehabilitation. He loved spending time with his son, Braden.

Cody was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents William and Louise Thompson and Lee Roy and Leanna Jean Dickerson; and cousin Justin Thompson.

He is survived by his father Robert Thompson and wife Debbie; mother Saundra Thompson; son Braden Thompson; brother Tim Thompson; uncle and aunt Paul and Tracy Thompson; other relatives and friends.
