Raymond Thomas, age 84 of Lexington, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014, at the Lexington Nursing Home.

Raymond Franklin Thomas was born March 7, 1929 in Gordonsville, VA, 1 of 6 children born to Elisha James Thomas and Louise Ann (Mahanes) Thomas. Raymond was raised in Virginia and attended school there.

He joined the United States Army and served his country proudly before being honorably discharged.

He began working for HB Fuller in Warren, MI, retiring as an equipment operator after many years of service.

Raymond married the love of his life; a young lady named Violet Maxine Scott on June 25, 1973 in Pontiac, MI. Together they raised 2 children, son Jimmy and daughter, Brenda.

In his spare time, Raymond enjoyed tending to his flower gardens and he always enjoyed a good day of fishing. In May of 1982, he and Violet moved their family to Purcell, before settling in Lexington, and they have called it home ever since. Raymond was a hard-working and honest man; a wonderful husband and father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a good friend.

He was preceded in death by: His wife, Violet Thomas, (December 22, 2013); His parents, Elisha and Louis Thomas; 2 sisters, Mildred and Lula and 2 brothers, Elton and James.

Raymond leaves behind: His daughter, Brenda Deal and husband Rodney; His son, Jimmy Loving and wife Donna; His sister, June; 9 Grandchildren; 12 Great grandchildren and A host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 PM Sunday, January 5, 2014, at the the Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
