Eldon Thomas, 75 year old Woodward resident passed Thursday, May 28, 2026 in Oklahoma City. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the First Assembly of God Church with Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Eldon Ray Thomas was born on October 30, 1950 in Woodward, Oklahoma, the son of Arley Edward and Leona Evelyn (McKenna) Thomas. Eldon grew up in May, Oklahoma and attended school in both May and Fort Supply. Eldon was united in marriage to Katherine Kaye Nickell on November 15, 1972 in Gage, Oklahoma. They made their first homes in Medicine Lodge, Kansas and Stockton, Kansas. They later settled down in Woodward, Oklahoma when their children started school. Eldon did farming and worked in the oilfield, but towards the end of his life, he found a career in dealing in scrap metal.
Eldon enjoyed watching the Thunder play, looking for tractors, and visiting the casino, but the things that brought him the most joy were his grandchildren, spending time with his sons, and buying and selling cars.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Arley and Leona Thomas; sisters, Jean Sapaugh, Alberta Allen, and Evelyn Byers; brother Kenneth (Tuffy) Thomas; and nephews, Chris Thomas and Leroy Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Thomas; three sons, Randy Thomas, Michael Thomas, and Donnie Ray Thomas and family; five brothers, Donald Thomas and wife Karen, Glen Thomas and wife Vila, Vernon Thomas, Dennis Thomas, and Bob Thomas; two sisters, Ann Moody and Nancy deBeer and husband Carl; four grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Jace Thomas, Bethany Thomas, and Michael Scott Thomas; three great grandchildren, Alikide Thomas, Promyse Thomas, and Hudson Kidd; and other relatives and friends.
Eldon was as ornery as his picture depicts. He didn't know a stranger and had a great sense of humor. He was very close to his family and would do anything for them. He was a hard worker and kept busy even up until he began to not feel well.
Eldon renewed and recommitted his faith in Jesus about 3 weeks before his passing. We have no doubt he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
