Frances Marie (Stowers) Tharp

Frances Marie (Stowers) Tharp
June 24, 1940 ~ March 22, 2023

Frances Marie (Stowers) Tharp passed away on March 12, 2023 following a brief illness. Frances was born to Edwin T. and Mary Stowers on June 24, 1940 in Cushing, Oklahoma. She attended Cushing High School and lived in the Happy Valley area as a child. As an adult, she lived in California, Nevada, New Mexico and returned home to Oklahoma in her final year of life.

Frances had a career in business, doing accounting for schools, businesses, and churches. She was active at Grace United Methodist Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico. It was there that she volunteered, sewing dozens of dresses for children in a mission orphanage and other projects. Frances visited many countries and enjoyed all kinds of travel. Even as her health began to hinder her ability to travel, she dreamed of seeing the world.

Frances is survived by her son, David Livingstone and his wife, Tina Livingstone; her sisters, Mary White and Rebecca Stowers; her grandchildren, Timothy Harrington, Lindsey Arndt, and Elena Livingstone; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Lt. Col. Harold Tharp; daughter, Jeanne Livingstone; her brothers, Ed Stowers and John Stowers, and great-grandson, Emeric Arndt.

Join us in celebrating her life at a memorial service at Stroud United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 29 at 11:00 a.m.
