Jesse Frederick "Freddy" Tennison

July 9, 1944 ~ December 18, 2003

Jesse Frederick (Freddy) Tennison succumbed to lung cancer December 18, 2003. He was born July 9, 1944, to Jessie and Fred Tennison in Muskogee, OK.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father and two brothers, Joseph Edward Lesnak and Frank Lesnak.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Tennison and grandchildren, Tayler and Drue McCormick; son, Gary Tennison and wife, Kari and grandchildren, Nathan, Steffani, Alisha and Kristin. Also surviving are his brothers and best friend, Charles Lesnak, Bakersfield, CA; Steve Tennison and wife, Carol, Oldsmar, FL; his sisters, Melissa Guinn, Muskogee, OK; Josephine Madrid, Albuquerque, NM; Charlene Jewell Stroud and husband, Edward, Valencia, CA; Wilma Fredia Doughton and husband, Ross, Dapto, NSW, Australia.

Freddy recognized the special attention, love, and support given to him by his nephews, Eddie Lesnak and Robert Allison and his nieces, Tammy Neumann, Annie Lesnak, Roberta Gafford and Pamela Van Horn during his illness. He will be missed by his many other nieces and nephews and friends who loved him and cherished his friendship.

Freddy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps November 28, 1961, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. He served in Korea, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as well as several other tours of duty. He was a Corporal receiving the Rifle Expert Badge, the AF Badge and the MC Badge, as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorable discharged from the Marine Corps on July 23, 1965.

Special thanks to Dr. Mukhopadhyay, Dr. Ashcroft and the nursing staff at Mercy Hospital ICU.

Freddy was known for his free-spirited attitude but his most enduring achievement and responsibility was the many years he provided care for his mother. He was her namesake.

Service is scheduled for today (Tuesday), 10:00 a.m., at Autumn Oaks Funeral Home, 4030 Wible Road, Bakersfield, CA.
