Kitty (Lawson) Taylor
July 1, 1926 ~ January 28, 2022

Kitty Taylor of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday evening, January 28, 2022, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 95 years.

Kitty Taylor was born on July 1, 1926 to John and Isabella “Belle” Lawson in Briartown, Oklahoma. She grew up in Briartown and attended Briartown schools and worked on the family farm. She married Herman George “Rod” Taylor on June 2, 1945 in Briartown and settled in Porum. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2005. In 1946, they moved to Blackwell and she worked various jobs including, Nina’s Dress Shop, Harvey’s Grocery Store, and Fey’s IGA. In 1973, moved to Checotah and worked at Nichol’s Grocery Store until 1992 when she retired. In 2002, they returned to make their home in Blackwell. She enjoyed quilting and making what she called memories for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.

She is survived by two sons, Don Taylor and wife Barbara of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Leslie Taylor and wife JoAnne of Wichita, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Debbie Taylor of Stillwater, Oklahoma; sister, Mildred Kindrick of Porum; eight grandchildren, Derry Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Amy Taylor Moyer, Scott Taylor, Ty Taylor, Velvet Taylor Moll, Troy Gee And Daryle Gee; 24 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Alan Taylor; one daughter, Carol Ann Taylor; brothers, Lloyd Lawson, her twin Ted Lawson and Howard Lawson; sisters, Edith Black and Ruby Scott; grandchildren, Jason Lyle and Paul Jeffries.

There will be private family services.

Casketbearers will be Derry Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Amy Taylor Moyer, Scott Taylor, Ty Taylor, Velvet Taylor Moll, Troy Gee, Daryle Gee, Matt Moll and Matt Moyer.
