James S. Taylor

September 27, 1929 ~ 2012

Mr. James S. Taylor, 82, died early Tuesday morning.

The son of James Sr. and Ruth (Wilson) Taylor, Jim was born September 27, 1929 in Graham, Texas. He graduated from Nocona High School, in Nocona Texas and enlisted into the US Army in 1951. After serving his country, Jim enrolled into the University of Texas and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1957. While studying there, he met Patty Sue House and the two united in marriage in 1955 at the University Methodist Church in Austin. Jim began his career in February 1957 with Phillips Petroleum Company. His career took him to places such as Borger and Sweeney Texas, Kishorn and Aberdeen Scotland, London England, and Kristiansand Norway, but it was Bartlesville, he called home. Jim and Patty were Charter members of the Disciples Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, numerous projects and creating memories with his family. Jim was a remarkable Husband, Father, Grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, James "Jimbo" Clay Taylor.

Jim is survived by Patty, his wife of 57 years; daughter Kathryn Ann Taylor and her companion, Susan Wallace; daughter Carolyn Sue Taylor Goodman and her husband, Terry; daughter-in-law Laura Taylor Whatley and her husband, Mark; four grandchildren: LCPL Tyler Goodman, Sydney Goodman, Grayson James Taylor and Gregory Whatley; sister-in-law Betty House; many cousins and friends, and his fun-loving fishing buddies and Fred C. Dobbs.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 2nd, at the Disciples Christian Church in Bartlesville, with Dr. Bill Inglish officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army - disaster relief, 101 North Bucy, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003.
